Robbie Knievel's Grand Canyon Jump, May 20, 1999 |
| On May 20, 1999 Robbie Knievel jump his CR 500 over part
of the Grand Canyon at Grand Canyon West on the Hualapai Indian Reservation.
The jump was aired live on FOX television. Robbie cleared the gap, but upon
landing, he lost control on the bumpy desert floor at the bottom of the
landing ramp. He crashed into some cactus and bales of hay. The jump originally
was to take place on April 29, 1999, but a freak snow storm on the day of
