La-Luz Speedway, New Mexico — 1977
November 27, 1977 at the La-Luz Speedway in New Mexico, Fearless Frank attempted a jump over a line of cars. His goal was to set a new track record for a ramp to ground jump using a two foot wide take off ramp. But disaster struck, he came up short and hit the second to last vehicle. He suffered a concussion, broken shoulder blade and a broken thumb.
